This beach was the prime location for the Allied troops (ANZAC troops mostly) during the Battle of Gallipoli. Troops were coming here to spend their free time mostly for swimming.
ANZAC Cove
ANZAC Cove is where Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) troops landed at dawn on the 25th of April, 1915.
Ariburnu Cemetery
Ariburnu Cemetery is located at the north end of ANZAC Cove. Over 250 Commonwealth servicemen are now buried or memorialized here.
Lone Pine Australian Memorial
There are over 30 cemeteries dotted around the Gallipoli as enduring tributes to the fallen. But, for Australians, this cemetery at Lone Pine holds particular significance. Named for the solitary tree which stood between opposing trenches, the small patch of the land saw some of the rawest close-quarter fightings of the campaign.
The Nek
Despite being small and quick engagements, the Battle of the Nek on the 7th of August 1915 was one of the most savage battles during the Gallipoli campaign.
The Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial
The monument erected in the Conkbayiri region keeps alive the memory of 850 New Zealand soldiers who died to seize Conkbayiri during the battles of 6-8 August 1915 and whose graves are unknown. This monument is dated 1925 and hosts the 25th of April, Anzac Day events.
