Istanbul Cinema Museum
Istanbul Cinema Museum is located in Atlas Passage on Istiklal Street, the city's most crowded Street only allow for pedesterians, closed to car traffic. 19th century and early 20th century architecture and historical buildings are located in Istikal Street also has an important place in the history of Turkish cinema.
The historical Atlas Passage, built by Armenian Catholic Banker Agop Koceoglu in 1877, housed the Atlas Cinema for many years. This cinema, which has a very important place in the history of Turkish Cinema, serves as the Istanbul Cinema Museum with its content renewed today.
Covered passages, which have a special importance for Istanbul, were built in the 19th century on Istikal Street. At that period Street name was named with its former name, Grand Rue de Pera. Istanbul Cinema Museum is located in Historical Atlas Passage, consists of 4 floors on an area of 1500 square meters. You will be amazed by feeling the 19th century architecture with wall reliefs, ceiling decorations, marble stairs in the museum, which has been restored faithfully to the original building.
In the museum, you will be able to see the exhibition area where you can see the development of Turkish Cinema from the day it started to our recent history, and camera-like equipment that we can call antiques today, which is the highest technology of the period. Thanks to Greenboz, you will be able to enter the movies of the past and make fun with many Turkish actors.
