The building where the Museum is located is built-in 1831. The building has been used as the Russian Embassy until 1880. And then as the Russian prison until 1914, after which it became the Narmanli family's property. It has been referred to as "Narmanli Han" ever since. In the following years, it was used as a studio and residence.

Museum of Illusions is located on Istiklal Street. It takes around 10 minutes to walk along Istiklal Street from Taksim Square to the museum. From the square until the museum, you can see and visit many famous, historical places along the road. Like St. Antuan Church, Galatasaray Highschool etc.
